My Work

Embodied

In Embodied: the psychology of physical sensation, I explore how we experience our bodies and our bodies experience the world. It focuses on the ten neglected physical senses of: balance, movement, pressure, breathing, itch, pain, fatigue, temperature, appetite, and expulsion (the experience of air and fluid leaving the body).

Work And Pain

In Work and pain: a lifespan developmental approach, we look across the whole lifespan and look at work broadly defined as occupation spanning from school to play to recreation and to retirement. International experts consider how pain alters work over the lifespan and how work can be changed to keep people in the workforce or in activity in which they can thrive.

European Pain Management

In European Pain Management we asked the leaders of 37 countries to tell us about how they approach pain management, what works, what areas of innovation they have investing in, and what challenges they face. The book ends with a call for action to develop a new model of the pain treatment centre, which has started an international discussion on new ways to build treatments that can reach many people.
